This year, to celebrate International Women’s Day, we will take a look into Shannon Graham - our CEO and boss lady! March 8th is a time to celebrate and recognise her achievements and contributions to drive gender parity in the workplace.
Meet Our Co-Founder & CEO
Shannon Graham is the CEO of Grahams Natural. Shannon is a powerful business woman, who understands the importance of staying true to the company's values and mission and recognising her commitment to providing natural skincare solutions and promoting healthy skin.
What does International Women's Day mean to you?
"International Women's Day to me, means recognising and celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements, as well as a call for gender equality and women's rights. International Women's Day is a reminder of the progress that has been made towards gender equality, but also of the work that still needs to be done to ensure that women and girls everywhere have equal opportunities and rights. It is a time to reflect on the struggles and contributions of women throughout history and to continue to push for gender equality in all aspects of society."
What is it like to be a women in business?
"Being a women in business can bring on unique challenges, such as having to prove my competence and credibility in male-dominated industries, dealing with implicit biases and stereotypes, and navigating workplace cultures that may not be inclusive. So my goal is to break through barriers to achieve success. In terms of the advantages of being a woman in business, I know I have strong communication and interpersonal skills, which are important for building relationships and managing teams. Additionally, having diverse perspectives and experiences can bring new ideas and innovation to businesses. Overall, being a woman in business can be both rewarding and challenging, and I understand the importance to continue promoting gender equality and supporting women in their professional pursuits."
How do you aim to inspire and encourage other women within your career and personal life?
Be a role model: I believe I can inspire and encourage others by being a role model. Through sharing my stories, successes, and challenges to show that it's possible to achieve success in their field.
Mentorship: Mentoring other women is a great way to inspire and encourage them. By sharing knowledge and experiences, I can help other women develop their skills and grow in their careers.
Speak up: I inspire & encourage others by speaking up and advocating for myself and other women around me. Using my voice to raise awareness about issues affecting women and work towards creating a more equal and inclusive world.
