Frequently Asked Questions

What is Eczema?

Eczema is more common than you may think. Many people have it and are looking for treatment solutions that help to manage and reduce symptoms. It’s a skin condition and type of dermatitis and skin problem that causes dryness, redness, and itchiness. As you may assume, it can be extremely frustrating and irritating when it’s at its peak. Many elements may cause your skin to overreact and flare up, such as stress, skincare products, detergents, and animals, to name a few.

Is Eczema contagious?

It’s not contagious and is solely cosmetic as long as you’re not always itching your skin and making it worse. While eczema doesn’t spread from person to person, it can spread to various parts of the body (for example, the face, cheeks, and the neck, wrist, knees, and elbows). Scratching the skin can make eczema worse. The challenging part is that eczema can cause you to want to itch and scratch your skin, but this can lead to more problems. Therefore, you need to use eczema cream and an eczema treatment that actually works.

What does Eczema look like?

The appearance of eczema can vary from mild forms, when skin looks dry and flaky, to severe forms, when skin can be extremely irritated and red. The most severe types of eczema can make your skin crack and ooze. Other times, it will feel itchy, and scratching leads to a red rash or leathery skin.

What can I use on my Eczema to help symptoms?

At Grahams Naturals we have created various formulas to best cater for your eczema skin.

For eczema on the face, we recommend using the Face & Eyelid Eczema Cream and Body & Bath Oil.

For eczema on the body, we recommend using the C+ Eczema and Dermatitis Cream and/or the Eczema Gel. Both products work best when used in conjunction with the Body & Bath Oil.

We also recommend to treat eczema from within by treating gut issues that can contribute to skin disorders. For this, we recommend the Mega Oil.

What is Psoriasis and what does it look like?

Psoriasis is an over production and build-up of skin cells. It is risen, scaly, red patches, and causes the skin to itch. Stress is a common trigger for a psoriasis flare.

What can I do to help my Psoriasis?

There is no cure for psoriasis, but you can manage symptoms. Lifestyle measures, such as moisturising, quitting smoking and managing stress may help.

Grahams Psoriasis cream was formulated to help improve the condition of the skin by providing natural ingredients that enables the skin to retain moisture more effectively, thus soothing, smoothing and hydrating the skin.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is one of the most common skin problems today. A chronic, inflammatory skin condition that affects the blood vessels, Rosacea most commonly occurs on the face and appears in the form of reddened skin.

What can I use to help my Rosacea?

We have developed a natural product with clinically tested ingredients to help to calm, cool and soothe the skin affected by Rosacea. Our Rosacea Cream is an effective treatment which is best kept in the fridge so when you have a flare, it is calming and soothing on the skin. Leave on the skin as a mask for 20 minutes then wash off. This will calm down the capillaries and minimise the redness.  Use as a daily moisturiser or night cream for ongoing care and treatment.

What factors may make my child's eczema worse?

Heat, letting the skin get dry and prickle can aggravate eczema. Keep your child cool, apply plenty of moisturiser and dress them in loose, light cotton or bamboo clothing and blankets.

How can I help to relieve my child's symptoms?

Take a two step approach using our products to aid Eczema symptoms -

Step One -Bath (tepid water) in Grahams Eczema Body & Bath Oil. This helps to barrier and protect the skin. The oil can be continued to be applied throughout the day if required.

Step Two - Apply the Graham Baby Eczema Cream to the areas that are red and inflamed. This will help with the redness and control any inflammation on the skin.

What factors may make skin dry?

Water, air-blowing heaters, cleaning agents, soap, swimming and the environment can all be drying to your child’s skin.

What is a Class I Medical Device?

A Class l Medical Device is a worldwide recognition of our products ingredients, meaning that all of the ingredients must have scientific and clinical data that is proven to assist in the management of the condition.

Some companies use 1 or 2 active ingredients, but we use a ‘football team’ full of ingredients that all have a part to play in making a product work on the condition that we are claiming ie: Eczema.  This gives you piece of mind that the product you are using has clinical evidence behind it.

Do you use any fragrance in your baby products?

We do not use any fragrance in our baby eczema products, instead we choose to use Vanilla Planfloria. This is a food grade vanilla extract that gives off a gentle vanilla scent without any side effects that come from typical fragrances.

A doctor should be able to diagnose psoriasis with a simple visual check up. There is no need to perform special tests or other medical procedures to diagnose this condition, however, if there are other symptoms present on the skin, doctors may conduct a skin biopsy.

There are different forms of Psoriasis including:

  • Plaque
  • Flexural
  • Nail
  • Guttate
  • Erythrodermic
  • Pustular

Rosacea is one of the most common skin problems today. A chronic, inflammatory skin condition that affects the blood vessels, Rosacea most commonly occurs on the face and appears in the form of reddened skin. Rosacea is often confused with acne, eczema or a skin allergy. When left untreated, it can worsen over time, so it’s important to seek diagnosis if you suspect you may have rosacea.

There are a range of symptoms of this skin disorder, the most common being the altering of skin colour. Typically skin will appear red and while it can occur anywhere, it’s most commonly found on the forehead, nose and cheeks. In addition to red patches, people with rosacea may also experience flushed skin on the neck, chest, scalp and ears.

When eczema gets infected it will crust (normally yellow in colour), it might weep, and is normally a sudden change in the eczema. It might be itchier than normal painful to touch. In severe cases your child might find it hard to extend their elbows or knees. It is common for children with uncontrollable eczema to get secondary infections. The reasons behind eczema becoming infected is usually because the child scratches and breaks the skin. One small infected area can flare other areas of eczema.

We recommend trying our baby range products first, as these are specifically made with babies and children in mind.
However, if your child has severe symptoms, the use of our original C+ Eczema & Dermatitis Cream may be more effective due to the stronger formulas.

Yes, but if they are having flare ups your doctor may suggest the swimming stops until the eczema gets better. Before swimming we recommend you apply moisturiser to the skin.  After swimming wash the chorine/salt water with cool fresh water apply bath oil, and then apply a moisturiser before dressing.
